Walter Woodruff
Walter grew up in a military family which enabled him to travel the world at a young age. This helped him develop communication skills with a multitude of people from all walks of life. Born in Germany on an American Naval Base and then moving every 3 years because of Navy tours, the family traveled to Japan, Hawaii and then to US and eventually landed in Florida.
Everything changed for Walter in 1986 when computers first started to become available to home and business on a large scale. Walter’s love for computer and technology started to grow. After years working as an auto mechanic, A/C tech and in steel fabrication, he also learned how to work on computers and began working a job in a local computer store as a bench tech. He spent 10 years learning everything there was to know about computer hardware. Not long after, the internet created a paradigm shift in the world, and from there his knowledge and experience really took off.
Walter joined a freight company as a programmer, and worked closely with FEMA during the 2005 Katrina disaster and other hurricanes over the years. He played an essential role in coordinating FEMA assets through the use of computer programming and helping keep accountability of asset deployment.
Walter leveraged his programming experience and transitioned to a part distribution company, where he spent 13 years as an IT Administrator. He was promoted to IT Manager where he helped the company grow its network from one location and 50 employees to 15 and over 600 employees across the United States.
Walter continues his career of solving business problems through the use of technology in his current role as IT Manager for AGX Freight.
